About
The Upper Stonehouse was built by Major Anthony Upper. Construction began in 1809 and was interrupted when Anthony and other members of the family went to fight in the War of 1812. The house was completed in 1814.
It was a fully sufficient farm in those days with dairy cows, chickens, horses and other livestock. There were many out buildings where meat was dried, cheese was made, eggs were collected.
They were known as the only house in Niagara with a three seater out house, large, medium and small wallpapered in Simpson Sears catalogue pages!

Growing up I was aware of our unique family history.
My grandsons are the 10th generation to share in its richness.
I was inspired by that history in my desire to learn different crafting techniques.

With a little of the boldness my ancestors displayed in settling and building a life in Canada I present to you handcrafted items that your family can enjoy in creating a space that you love.
